Activities

The area around Santa Teresa has so many different activities to choose from, you're bound to find something no matter where your interests lie. From hiking and yoga, to surfing, fishing or exploring on ATV's, it has it all.

Sea Kayaking

Take a sea kayak trip out to mysterious Cabuya Island and go snorkeling at the fan reef there. This is a spectacular trip and one of the best things you can do in the area. You may even see whales, which are frequently in these waters. Sea kayaking is easy, so don't worry if you haven't done it before.

Off Roading

The Nicoya is home to undeniably one of the most beautiful, endless strings of beaches around. With some local insight, it’s possible to find lesser used, smoother dirt tracks, that are amongst the most enjoyable I’ve ridden on this whole journey. Even the beach itself can be cycled at low tide, which makes touring here unique. In addition to cycling, there are also ATV's for rent. One thing we enjoyed was renting a diesel Toyota Helux for a trip from Santa Teresa to Cabuya via steep dirt roads full of mountain views of the ocean and beautiful foliage.

Surfing

The whole coastline it's ideal for surfing with waves for the beginner to the fearless pro, year round. If you are learning there are many gentle beach breaks from Playa Carmen to Santa Teresa and northern. When it gets big experienced surfers will look for point breaks like Suck Rock and Sunset reef.

Snorkling / Scuba

Many have found the diving here to be the best on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. There are many large fish, rays, turtles, eels, etc in the area. There is a wreck off Cabuya, and in August you can see whale sharks. There are many places in the area to book a snorkling or scuba trip.
